Canada Goose FAQ:

Why do we have resident Canada geese?

Since 1918, Canada geese have been protected by federal law.  Specifically, the law limits the hunting of geese, and the ways in which their numbers can be controlled.  With growing urban areas and suburban sprawl, the geese have found many man-made habitats which allow them to stay fed and warm all year long.

Why are resident Canada geese a problem?

Resident geese make homes of our well manicured lawns, ponds, recreation areas, and airports. The average goose can eat up to 5 pounds of grass in a single day and produce up to 1.5 pounds of droppings per day.  This leads to unsightly and hard to clean areas.  When excess amounts of goose feces accumulate where people work, play, or relax, obvious health concerns are raised.
